When examining most Dental Assistant Program course outlines you may notice they are all relatively the same. While other schools have chosen to purchase their curriculum and use text books as their guide for class instruction, Academy of Dental Careers, Inc. has dedicated resources to developing teaching methods and skill sets that are one-of-a-kind. Although we use text books, our programs are focused on practical hands-on training. Our teaching methods and skill sets maximize your time, increase your understanding, and amplify your ability to perform each task.
At Academy of Dental Careers, Inc., we provide the highest standard of education with limited class sizes and multiple instructors which accelerates your learning experience. For the first four weeks classes are held on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break. The classes for the remaining eight weeks are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
The Saturday classes are a mixture of lecture and clinical instruction. During this time you acquire an understanding of basic anatomy, the dentition, and the various procedures performed in a general dental practice. By your last Saturday class you will be OSHA Trained and CPR Certified. You will also have a solid understanding of the concepts needed to begin your clinical rotations.
The Monday and Wednesday evening classes begin with a brief lecture and instructor demonstration. The majority of the class is spent in clinical rotations giving you the opportunity to practice your newly acquired skills before moving on to a new skill set.
In addition to the above class schedule, our students complete 100 externship hours in independent dental offices.
“Some of the assistant schools I looked at had 20-30 students and one instructor. There is more than one instructor at this school and I had more one-on-one experience. I felt like I could learn more. The instructors genuinely want you to be good, they want you to succeed, and they are out for your best interest.” -Krista Rupp
